Course topics: 1. The difference between argumentation and rhetoric and the structure of the debate. 2. Exhibition debate on a selected topic - presentation and evaluation. 3.-12. Academic debate on a selected topic - presentation and evaluation. In the 3rd - 12th week of the term, students choose their own topic to debate on. If no agreement is reached between the competition teams, the topic of debate will be determined by the teacher. For this reason, each term will have a unique schedule of debates, which the teacher will send to students no later than by the end of the second semester week. For example, individual discussion topics may read as follows: Quotas for the admission of socially disadvantaged applicants should be introduced at universities. Health insurance companies in Slovakia may not generate profit for private individuals. The condition of eligibility for the mayor should be the graduation from secondary school. Cartoons that offend one person\'s faith should be banned. The institute of a state of emergency or emergency can be used to eliminate the undesirable consequences of a strike. Homosexual couples have the right to live together in a state-recognized union. The statutory threshold for election to parliament should be abolished. Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic should be elected directly by citizens. The institute of a permanent member of the UNSC should be abolished.
