Course topics: Theoretical part: Team interpreting, possibilities of cooperation, effective functioning of an interpreting team. Principles of cooperation with a deaf interpreter in a team (requirements for a deaf and hearing interpreter in a team, types of teams of cooperating interpreters, joint training, position of the team coordinator). Collaboration with colleagues: colleague-interpreter, colleague-supervisor, colleague-mentor, colleague-confidant. Analysis and reflection of the interpreting team. Effective feedback from and to colleagues. Analysing recordings, uncovering errors, working with error. Active work with the interpreting diary, glossary and other interpreting aids. Supervision in interpreting practice. Self-reflection in interpreting practice, responsibility for own interpreting performance. Psychohygiene in the interpreting profession, active rest. Burnout syndrome, setting professional and personal boundaries. Opportunities for systematic learning, self-education and self-reflection in interpreting Practice. Motivation for further education at home and abroad (institutions, publications, websites and other possibilities, the international signing system, its advantages for interpreters of national sign languages, etc.). Review of the interpreting skills acquired and readiness for the interpreting profession. Possibilities and perspectives for own professional development and direction. Interpreting dilemmas: different approaches and solutions. Translation vs. interpreting from a letter (preparation, implementation, feedback, working with error). Specifics of interpreting in the artistic field (theatre, concerts). Specifics of translating artistic texts (different approaches to translating an artistic work, rules of translating an artistic text, linguistic means to be used, presentation of the resulting translation). Specifics of court interpreting for the deaf (current legislation, requirements for an interpreter, appointment as a court interpreter, court translations, methods of payment of interpreting fees, etc.). Practical part: various purposefully selected exercises and activities realized on monolingual (Slovak-Slovak) and bilingual material (Slovak - Slovak sign language and vice versa).
