Course topics: 1. Basic theoretical approaches to translation of texts - formal equivalence (literal equivalence), functional equivalence (free translation) and paraphrase. 2. The content structure of the sentence - the actual sentence structure - the starting point of the utterance and the core of the utterance. 3. Sentence structure in sign language. 4. Translation analysis of the source text. 5. Analysis of the target text. 6. Translation of selected topical texts from newspapers and magazines. 7. Translation of selected current texts from the world of the deaf.
