Course topics: 1) Ethics as a scientific discipline, basic concepts, ethics and morality, historical development of morality and ethics, directions and types of ethics. 2) Medical ethics, basic concepts in medical ethics, deontological codes, basic ethical principles in nursing. 3) Ethical rules and moral problems in the profession of nurse, ethical dilemmas in health care and nursing. 4) Ethical aspects of nursing, the code of ethics of nurses, requirements for the personality of the nurse, self-reflection, self-concept of the nurse and the social status of the nurse. Ethical communication - informed consent of the patient. 5) Ethical issues in surgical nursing, nursing in internal medicine, geriatric nursing,gynecology and obstetrics, pediatric nursing, psychiatric nursing and other selected fields of nursing 6) Ethical aspects of biomedical research, the origin and mission of ethics committees, the application of the principles of nursing ethics in the practice of the nurse 7) Characteristics of social communication and its importance in nursing, types of social communication 8) Interview - dialogue between nurse and patient, phases of interview, types of interview, typologies of nursing responses, classification of patients depending on the predominant element in behavior 9) Basic communication skills of a nurse, ways of communication in nursing, basic communication principles, communication styles of a nurse, communication barriers on the part of the nurse and on the patient, communication in relation to the nursing process 10) Empathy in the fulfillment of the nurse\'s role behavior, basic elements of empathy in the approach to the patient, factors increasing and decreasing the nurse\'s ability to empathize 11) Assertive behavior, techniques of assertive behavior, assertive rights, ways and types of behavior, basic elements of the nurse\'s psychotherapeutic approach to the patient 12) Communication of the nurse with patients with special needs: visually impaired and blind patients, with hearing disorders, with mental handicap, with physical handicap
