Practice in the Criminal Law (YNTRm595)

Course topics: 1. Development of the student\'s analytical skills in relation to case analysis, development of synthetic thinking skills with reference to appropriate methods of processing relevant submissions and respecting the principles of scientific ethics. 2. Skills related to the initial acts of criminal proceedings - preparation of a criminal report and possible solutions to a criminal report from the position of authorities active in criminal proceedings. 3. Preparatory skills - drafting a resolution on the allegations and the possibility of defence in relation to the acts in question (for example, processing a request to review the conduct of a police officer). 4. Developing students\' ability in relation to the prosecutor\'s actions in the preparatory proceedings with emphasis on the prosecutor\'s actions - processing the order for the use of information and technical means and processing the indictment. 5. Analysis of the case from the point of view of means of securing things in criminal proceedings, development of students \'analytical thinking in connection with the identification of procedural errors of bodies active in criminal proceedings and development of students\' competence to take arguments on ways to solve them. 6. Development of student\'s abilities in relation to the actions of the judge at the main hearing - systematics of the judge\'s actions during the main hearing. 8. Development of the student\'s abilities in relation to the elaboration of the judgment in terms of form as well as in terms of content (requisites, calculation of the penalty rate, dealing with the method of decision of the adhesion procedure). 9. Ethical dilemmas of a judge with an emphasis on evaluating the judge\'s bias. 10. Ethical dilemmas of a lawyer in the course of criminal defence. 11. Presentation of student presentations on a selected legal issue related to substantive and procedural criminal law; evaluation. 12.
