Course topics: 1. Selected aspects of pre-trial proceedings. 2. Review of criminal reports prepared by students and analysis of selected cases from the point of view of legal qualification. 3. Analysis of solved cases from the point of view of criminal procedural law. 4. Initiation of criminal prosecution and filing of charges with reference to the case law of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic. 5. Contradictory nature of interrogations as a fundamental practical problem of pre-trial proceedings. 6. Securing evidence in pre-trial proceedings - part one. 7. Securing evidence in pre-trial proceedings - part two. 8. Excursion to the Leopoldov Detention and Prison Institution. 9. Drug crime with an emphasis on practical problems of evidence. 10. The theory of the fruit of the poisoned tree and the related case law of the ECHR and the courts of the Slovak Republic. 11. Evidence produced by private individuals and their admissibility in criminal proceedings. 12. Electronic evidence and problems of securing it in application practice.
