Course topics: Health and disability - definitions, theories (medical model, social model, social oppression model, ICF model versus ICDH model). Biopsychosocial determinants affecting health. Concepts of quality of life in relation to people with disabilities with an emphasis on a child with disabilities. Social impact of selected chronic diseases - celiac disease, DM, oncological diseases. Physical, sensory, mental and mental disabilities - characteristics and degrees of disability. Situation of families with a disabled member (parenthood, partnership and sibling constellations), needs, barriers. Specific groups and chronic illness and disability (seniors and disabilities, children and disabilities, gender and disabilities). Medical rehabilitation in the context of comprehensive rehabilitation of children with physical and combined disabilities - therapeutic techniques used in working with a child with disabilities. Social services and compensation for people with disabilities (Assessment activity, types and forms of social services, types of cash contributions for compensation) Informal carers - - characteristics, problems of informal carers, selected forms of help. The importance of the third sector in relation to people with chronic diseases and disabilities.
