Course topics: In the seminar students read fictional texts of individual national literatures from the 20th and 21st century (beyond the literature the students encountered in high school). The aim of the subject is to broaden their horizons about world literature, i.e. about individual national literatures (in the present syllabus, Austrian, Portuguese, French, Italian, Canadian and Czech literature), through a selection of representative authors and works. The structure of the selected authors and works takes into account the various (sub)genres as well as the practical aspect (the scope of the work), so that students can read them from week to week and discuss them in class. The subject syllabus as well as the recommended readings depend on the works selected for interpretation.
