Course topics: History of educational psychology and its place in the system of psychological and pedagogical sciences. The relationship of educational psychology to other psychological sciences and to border sciences. Subject of educational psychology. • Research methodology in educational psychology. Methods of educational psychology. Methods of obtaining and processing research data. • Determinants of the development and formation of the human psyche. Basic concepts of educational psychology (growth, maturation, development, learning, education) and the relationships between them. Educational psychological principles of educational activity. • Introduction to the psychology of learning. Understanding learning in a broader and narrower sense. Learning as a continuous life process and a natural human activity. Phases of learning. • Characterization of learning processes in terms of its types. Perceptual-motor learning, verbal learning, conceptual learning, learning by problem solving (problem identification, sensitivity to problems). • Problem teaching. Principles of Bruner\'s theory. Recent research findings in education: effective communication and conflict resolution. Real-life problem-solving strategies. • The oldest theories of learning – associationism and functionalism. Classical conditioning (Pavlov). Theory of learning according to Thorndike. Skinner\'s operant conditioning. • Quality of the teaching process.
