Course topics: 1. Introduction to human rights - theoretical background, classification, definition of basic terms, human rights authorities. 2. Value enshrinement of human rights - human dignity, equality, autonomy. 3. Non-discrimination - identity, LGBTI+ people\'s rights, women\'s rights. 4. The right to life - euthanasia and the right to death, abortion. 5. Prohibition of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment and punishment - forced sterilization, torture and terrorism. 6. The right to privacy and family life - civil unions for all. 7. Freedom of expression and the right to information I - protection of personal rights, hate speech. 8. Freedom of expression and the right to information II - art, commercial speeches and morality. 9. The right to associate in political parties - dissolution of a political party, plurality of opinions in a democratic regime. 10. The right to a fair trial - criminal aspects of human rights issues. 11. The right to a favourable environment - a value or an individual right. 12. Presentation of final theses and argumentative discussion.
