EU Gender Equality Law (XNMP_GEN)

Course topics: 1. Basic concepts of gender equality legislation (gender, sex, direct indirect discrimination, positive discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, instruction to discriminate). 2. Development of equal treatment legislation at EU level. 3. Sources of EU gender equality law. 4. The principle of equal pay for male and female workers for equal work or work of equal value. 5. Equal treatment for men and women in matters of employment and occupation. 6. Equal treatment for men and women in matters of social security. 7. Equal treatment for men and women as regards occupational social security schemes. 8. Equal treatment for men and women as regards access to and supply of goods and services. 9. Protection of pregnant workers and workers who have recently given birth or are breastfeeding, protection of parents. 10. Multiple discrimination and intersectionality. 11. Proactive measures and gender mainstreaming in EU law. 12. Enforceability of EU gender equality legislation.
