Course topics: 1. The concept of state and statehood. Continuities and discontinuities of the state (periodization of state law development). Political power and sovereignty in a feudal, civic and totalitarian state. 2. The right of the (Slovak) nation to self-determination - the relationship between the state and the nation in the territory of Slovakia. 3. Constitutional (state law) development until 1848. Judiciary system. 4. Constitutional (state law) development in the period 1848-1918. Judiciary system. 5. Constitutional (state law) development in the period 1918-1945. Judiciary system. 6. Constitutional (state law) development in the period 1948-1960. Judiciary system. 7. Constitutional (state law) development in the period 1968-1992. Judiciary system. 8. The concept of the division of power throughout the history. Legislative power and sovereignty of the people. Executive and judicial power - mutual relations, independence of the judiciary. 9. Self-government and state administration - transformations and development of mutual relations. 10. Rule of law and socialist legality - the relationship between the state and law, the relationship between the state and the citizen, fundamental rights. 11. State, law and politics - political parties, HSĽS, KSČ, elections. 12. State, law and ideology. Memorial laws, nation\'s memory, political processes, rehabilitation and restitution.
