Course topics: The course “Innovative Technologies and Law” is elective course which provides students with interdisciplinary overview in law and technology interrelation and helps them to recognise current challenges for law, resulting from rapid scientific progress. Its content is not focused only on IT Law, but the course addressess the full spectrum of issues also from the area of „traditional law“. Content thus encompasses not only current issues related to privacy protection in the Internet environment, the issues with ownership of virtual objects, or challenges of cloud computing, but also basic information on the regulation of new technologies, regulatory policies and specific problems in the area of biotechnologies and nanotechnologies regulation. Course contents: 1) The background of regulation of innovative technologies (risk evaluation, theoretical and ideological approaches to legal regulation of innovative technologies) 2) Principles and regulatory policies 3) Modalities of regulation 4) Biotechnology - regulatory policies and patentability issues 5) Nanotechnology – regulatory policies and patentability issues 6) Protection of privacy on the Internet (web search, Cookies) 7) Privacy and Digital Rights Management (DRM) 8) Cloud computing – challenges to the Law 9) Ownership of virtual objects
