Course topics: The scope of the subject is the period from the ancient times until the revolutionary year 1989 in Czechoslovakia, i.e.: a) pre-state era in the Slovak territory and the existence of the feudal state and civil state since 1848, b) development of the state, state power, administration and judiciary in the Slovak history, c) material and formal sources of law, d) development of feudal and modern law, with focus on institutes, branches of law, and differentiation of public and private law until 1848, e) constitutional changes and development of the state, administration, and judiciary in the national history and the history of states inhabited by the Slovaks (Austria-Hungary, Czechoslovakia), f) development of specific branches of law in the Slovak history from 1848 till 1989, g) concept of socialist law in the Czechoslovak Republic and the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and development of specific branches of law in this era, h) efforts of the Slovaks to reach national and state sovereignty – ideas and concepts v. political and legal reality. If the topic is interconnected with the European or world legal history, it will, naturally, be discussed in this broader concept.
